Meet Our Outpatient Treatment Team
Ms. Weber is the Manager of Outpatient Services at Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of South Carolina. She is also certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors as an NCC (“National Certified Counselor”).
Ms. Weber brings over 20 years of experience in treating children, adolescent and adult clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse and other difficulties. Her clinical experience includes hospitals, inpatient treatment, outpatient programs, medication assisted treatment facilities, residential treatment for addiction and private practice. Weber received her Masters of Science Degree from Oswego State University and her Sixth Year Professional Diploma of Advanced Studies in Counseling from Southern Connecticut State University.
She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused Based Therapy, as well as other approaches in order to help clients learn about their individual strengths while learning how to cope with life’s inevitable challenges and discover their path toward the most rewarding life possible. She has extensive experience working with patients who struggle with depression, anxiety, substance abuse and relationship difficulties. Weber work well with survivors of trauma (physical, sexual, emotional) and with clients who have physical symptoms (headaches, sleep disturbance, digestive problems, muscle tension) that are connected to psychological processes (stress, anger, worry, dissociation).
Joyce Ferguson Potter
Ms. Potter works as a RN for Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health’s Partial Hospitalization Program and Intensive Outpatient Program.
Ms. Potter has worked at Palmetto Lowcountry for over 16 years in different capacities including a RN charge nurse for the inpatient program, medication nurse, admissions nurse and house supervisor. Potter joined the outpatient PHP/IOP team in 2012, and enjoys providing healthy living educational groups for the clients she interacts with.
Ms. Valerie Zanghirella is the lead program therapist for the CARE program for chemical dependence. Valerie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (LMFTI) in the state of South Carolina and received her BA in psychology from Hunter College in New York City, and her MA in marriage and family therapy at University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Valerie has treated a variety of demographics, including addiction within the homeless population, children and adolescents in school settings, and inpatient and outpatient programs for those suffering from eating disorders. Most recently Valerie has worked within the inpatient units at Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health, primarily servicing the severely depressed and assisting patients in the detox unit for substance abuse.
Valerie has a strong passion for providing clinical help for those suffering from mental health issues and addiction and uses the Matrix Model as a treatment program to help those who are actively seeking help recovering to recover from their addictions. Additional modalities included Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness based activities, and various other trainings to help patients towards their path to recovery.
