Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common childhood disorders characterized by difficulty focusing, self-control and hyperactivity. While ADHD is generally diagnosed in childhood, it can continue into adulthood.
While it can be normal for all children to lack focus and be hyperactive/impulsive at times. Those diagnosed with ADHD and, these behaviors, are severe and occur more frequently.
Children with ADHD may exhibit the following:
- Easily distracted or difficulty focusing
- Trouble with homework or following instructions
- Exhibit difficulty sitting still or doing quite tasks
- Be impatient or have a hard time waiting their turn
Treatment generally consists of a combination of medication, ongoing therapy and education.
