Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health was originally created as Southern Pines
in 1982 until 1989 when it was bought by Charter Medical Corporation and
renamed Charter Hospital of Charleston. Only a few months later, in
September of 2000, Lowcountry was purchased by Palmetto Behavioral Health
and named Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health. In May of 2004, Psychiatric
Solutions, Inc. (PSI) acquired Palmetto Behavioral Health.
