Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health was originally created as Southern Pines in 1982 until 1989 when it was bought by Charter Medical Corporation and renamed Charter Hospital of Charleston.  Only a few months later, in September of 2000, Lowcountry was purchased by Palmetto Behavioral Health and named Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health.  In May of 2004, Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. (PSI) acquired Palmetto Behavioral Health.

Services Offered:
Treatment options range from inpatient crisis stabilization to outpatient therapy, with levels designed to provide individualized treatment options:

  1. Acute Inpatient - Treatment in an intensive, therapeutic structure, providing stabilization and chemical dependency services for patients experiencing acute symptoms.
  2. Adolescent Residential Treatment - Long-term treatment for emotional and behavioral issues for children and adolescents.
  3. Partial Hospitalization – Immediate access to a confidential and structured environment while allowing patients to return home at night to the support of their family and comfort of a familiar setting.
  4. Intensive Outpatient – A continuation of options to treat behavioral health issues for those patients who require an intensive level of outpatient services for alcohol and drug treatment, in addition to other mental health issues.
  5. Outpatient Services – Individual, group, marriage and family counseling, and therapy coupled with medication support.
